Welcome to Red River, New Mexico, “Ski Town of the Southwest.” Located in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range of the southern Rockies, Red River has four seasons of fun for everyone. As an old mining town, Red River saw its fair share of people searching for gold. Now families and friends visit in search of different treasures: the beauty of nature, fond memories, a slower pace, and year-round outdoor adventures.
Red River is best known for its laid back attitude, family friendly ambiance, and the convenience of Main Street. Home to 29 shops and boutiques, 19 restaurants, and 41 lodging establishments, you’ll find souvenirs, handmade jewelry and more, all just a few steps from your lodge or cabin.
Hungry after a long day skiing in Red River or at The Enchanted Forest Cross Country Area? You’ll find dining options such as steaks, burgers, salads, pizzas, seafood, Mexican fare, and Italian cuisine. After a delicious dinner, kick up your heels with live music at one of nine music venues. Red River’s saloons are famous for providing a good time, and whether you’re in the mood for line dancing, two-stepping, or just straight up boogieing, you’ll find a band in town that suits your style.
One of Red River’s greatest assets is the Red River Community House. During the summer it offers over 400 free family-friendly events like guided hikes, movies on the lawn, concerts, geocacheing, arts and crafts, line dancing, and more. This winter you can catch speakers, concerts, CHILL! teenage and young adult nights, and guided snowshoe tours. Go to
www.RedRiverCommunityHouse.org for more information and a schedule of events.
Red River also features an incredible lineup of special events year-round. During the winter the town hosts events like Just Desserts Eat & Ski, the Christmas Luminaria Tour, a winter carnival, frozen turkey races, and everyone’s favorite, Mardi Gras in the Mountains.
